The existential meaning of the humanities stems from the development of creative thoughts and imagination, which allow a person to think differently. Furthermore, the meaning stems from cultivating the power to evaluate and the ability to communicate. In this regard, it is our department’s educational goal to create Japanese language and culture experts that have in-depth knowledge of Japanese social culture and the linguistic capacity to freely communicate with the Japanese.
In this department, we create and operate excellent high-quality courses on the Japanese language and literature field and the Japanese regional studies field.
We provide students a specific yet systematic understanding of Japanese society, and we attempt to boost students’ motivation to learn.

The Department of Japanese Language and Culture cultivates a talented individual that is creative and imaginative someone who is suited to the globalized and information-centric 21st century. In this way, they will be able to contribute to Korea-Japan relations that are replete with mutual co-operation and prosperity, and aspirations for the future, such as reconciliation and consideration.
