According to World Health Organization data, health is determined by social and physical environmental conditions (55%) and health habits (30%) rather than by genetics and medical care (10%). However, the physical environment in which we live is becoming more dangerous because of fine dust pollution, global warming, and chemical poisoning.
The perception, policies, institutions, culture, and health habits of people who create the social environment should also benefit health.
Rather than putting importance only on simply living long, it is also important that our descendants and we live healthy lives. Today, health and environmental experts are needed more than ever. Since 1992, the Department of Environmental Health has produced 8,000 health and environmental experts and aims to play a key role in public health development.
By studying at our department, students can obtain a professional national/public certificate or license related to health studies (health educator, hospital administrator, hygienist, forest therapist) and environmental studies (water quality, air, waste, industrial hygiene, environmental risk management engineering, industrial safety). Anyone can contribute to protecting national health and the environment by developing a high level of expertise in these fields.
