- Please note that KNOU is an open university and thus does not issue student visas for foreign students.
- To apply for admission to KNOU, international applicants must report and have a registered residence in Korea.
- Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) scores are not required for admission to KNOU. However, applicants should be able to listen, speak, read, and write in considerable-level Korean to successfully complete programs provided by the university.
- Admission requirements
- New applicants who starts from freshman : High school graduates (those who have completed more than 12 years of school curriculum abroad)
- Transfer Applicants who starts from sophermore or junior :
- ① Graduates or prospective graduates with an associate or bachelor’s degree
- ② Those who have completed the first or second year of their original university

Course Registration
Students are given three credits for each course. Students can earn up to 18 credits (6 courses) per semester.

Learning
KNOU offers blended learning that combines online and offline methods through U-KNOU Campus and face-to-face classes in regional campuses.
- Online courses: All courses are provided in the form of online lectures. All lecture content is provided through the U-KNOU Campus, the university’s unique distance-learning platform, and can be taken anytime and anywhere via PC, tablet and mobile. U-KNOU Campus
- Face-to-face classes: KNOU provides face-to-face classes in regional campuses and learning centers across the country. These classes are supplementary measures to overcome the limitations of distance learning. Face-to-Face classes allow the benefits of active interaction, not only between professors and students but also among students.
Assessment
Assessment consists of formative evaluation, midterm, and final exams.
- Assessment proportion : Formative evaluation (20%) + Midterm (30%) + Final exams (50%)
※ Formative evaluation will be applied primarily to elective courses from 2021 and be gradually expanded to other courses. - Formative evaluation: An assessment of the students’ learning progress and learning activities of online lectures provided by U-KNOU Campus.
- Midterm: Depending on the course, assessment is divided into written exams and in-person class evaluations. For in-person classes, students must physically attend and take the exams. However, students who are unable to attend the classes due to work may take a substitute exam instead of class attendance. The substitute exam may be a multiple-choice test or an written exam, depending on courses.
- Final exams: All courses should administer a multiple-choice or a subjective test on the designated test day for each grade.

The scores calculated according to each course’s grading standard are classified into the following nine grades:
